One van is in the front, two android vans are behind it and one last van is at the end. The last van would be normally driven, it’s meant for maintenance purposes. The idea behind this project is to record the reaction of these vehicles to stimulation. I believe that this refers to traffic signals, strollers and other path risks. At first thought this seems to be extremely dangerous, that’s the reason why there would be people behind the bots so as to handle the situation in case something goes wrong.
According to project leader Alberto Broggi:“What we are hope to rich is to change our systems and see if they can work in a real conditions, with real weather, real traffic and crazy persons who run across the way in front of you and a vehicle that cuts you off.”
I am waiting to hear more about this excursion. How would it be when the first driverless vehicle is sent on the road? If that is the next target of the project, this project needs to succeed.
